Line

I sat in the garden today, in the sunshine, wondering what my favourite line is from all the books that I've read over the years.

I soon came to a conclusion.

It's nothing highbrow or scientific, it isn't a classic and it's not something your English Literature master might have encouraged you to read. It's George's Marvellous Medicine by Road Dahl. The line? Oh yes, it's this (a description of George's Grandmother):

She had pale brown teeth and a small puckered up mouth, just like a dog's bottom.

That line never ceases to raise a smile on my face.

I love his books. One of my favourite lines is:

Mrs. Twit has a glass eye which she likes to pop in her husband's beer, saying, "I've got eyes everywhere so you'd better be careful."

LOL! I've never read that one. I might buy it tomorrow.

oh, you have to! The Twits, GMM and the Witches are my favourites. But the Twits are out of this world! It's Quentin Blakes drawing that really bring the silly characters to life.

Mr Twit and Mrs Twit hate each other. But more importantly they both hate nasty, nosey little boys.

And, what's worse, they hate the birds roosting in the tree outside their house (which has no windows, Mr and Mrs Twit don't like people looking in)

Unfortunately for the birds, Mr and Mrs Twit have a taste for 'bird pie'. Every evening Mr Twit liberally coates the branches of the tree with glue, in order to catch birds for tomorrow's feast!

You'll have to buy the book to read more. The best bit is Mr and Mrs Twit HATE each other and the things they get up to is SO outrageous. She even removes the spaghetti from his dinner and replaces it with worms, lol. "It's a new brand", she explains, as Mr Twit observes the moving tomato sauce covered mass on his plate. Fabulous, you're going to LOVE it.

I grew up on his books, loved them to bits. I loved them so much, last year, we got Jaysen his entire collection and now HE sits and reads them. It's the way he writes and some of the gross stuff that he comes out with that appeals to kids.

Seriously Minge, you've never read the twits? And you told me off for hating Raindow! For shame...

I would like to join this Roald Dahl admiration society. How much does a membership badge cost?

My fave book of his is Matilda, but I can't find my copy right now to recite some good lines.

Matilda, however, has the magical powers that I have always wanted.

All cheques for membership should be sent to me, for any amount over £15. I will see to it Minge gets the money.
