I can't wait to go to Japan.You can wear what the hell you like. No-one will laugh, nor will they point, nor will they ask, "What have you come as?"
I intend taking my kilt. I hope to wear it most days. The only thing that's making me think twice about this is its weight. I think we get thirty kilos in hold luggage. I have no idea how much my kilt weighs, but taking it will limit me on the other things I can take.
I could go out in full drag when we're there and no-one would bat an eye lid.
When we were there last time, we saw a girl dressed as Bo-Peep. No, she was not going to a fancy dress party, that was just the way she was dressed.
I also saw a goth girl. Not unusual, I know, but she was no goth. She did not have the mind set of a goth. She was nothing more than a disco-dolly.
That's happening here, I notice. People just dress as a thing, but are not that thing themselves. Am I a hypocrite? I've dragged up, but I wouldn't call myself a drag queen.
I have heard kilts were the "in" thing, in Japan. I hope you have a fabulous time! Please take lots of pictures during your travels! :)

ReplyDeleteI so admire Japanese style - they can wear anything and make it look good. You just know if I walked around with pink leopard print leggings, blue jumpsuit, gold heels and a mohawk I would look a hot mess.

I have been thinking about people who look a look but don't live the look for the last few years. I happen to be attracted to gay men with tats and piercings because somewhere in my mind it means that he thinks "outside the box" (pun intended) and is a bit adventurous and not afraid of being different. (I myself have none because while I think they can be sexy, I have no tolerance for the piercing pain of either.) With the onslaught of tattoos and piercings in society, these guys are getting harder and harder to find because while a guy may have them, he may be as conservative as that little old lady who still bakes apple pies and places them on the wondow sill to cool. Anyway I think the reaction of men like that has been to hold onto that identity but play "dress up" with shirts, ties and finely coiffed, yet stylish hair while still maintaing a bit of "edge." I happen to like this trend of people taking something opposite of themselves and incorporating it into their look. (Sorry, I should have just made a new post.) Any commments?

I'd never have a tattoo or a piercing. No tattoo because you can't change your mind. No piercing because I once saw the amount of blood to come out after and earing was yanked out of someone's ear. Imagine if that was your cock or nipple.
