Cooler than Las Ketchup, catchier than Whigfield - 2006 is the Summer of Shanadoo!Shanadoo are four Japanese girls Chika, Junka, Marina and Manami who manage to convey both wholesome and mucky like no-one since the Spice Girls.
Their track King Kong will burrow into your brain like a bug, combining inscrutable Japanese lyrics, the occasional words in English, rapping and Eurohouse synths. And, of course, there's a dance that goes with it, the Para-Para.
Trust me, it's pure fabulousness.
I've got this track on repeat! It's on its ninth loop now. I'm going out of my mind!
ReplyDeleteI just love it.
Are they singing, "Do you want to ding dong?" ???
ReplyDeletethanks for emailing it. I think I need to listen a few times before it grows on me.
ReplyDeleteWhat!?!? It's fabulous - and so gay!
ReplyDeletehehe you're right, it really does grow on you!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean I have to play for YOUR team now? I think Jo might have something to say about that ;)
Did you download it, Dan?
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to play for our team, but you can be an honourary team member if you like!
you get to wear brightly coloured shirts, say fabulous a lot and scream with excitement. The up-side about being an honourary gay is that you don't have to put your tongue in a man's mouth.
or anywhere else.... lol
ReplyDeleteLOL! Where were you thinking?
ReplyDeleteWell as long as I have a note to excuse me ;)
ReplyDeleteI say fabulous occasionally...
"brightly coloured" for me usually means "not black" though I do own a bright blue shirt!
And thank you for not making put my tongue anywhere :D
Alan keeps asking me, but I always refuse.
Oh, and yes, I downloaded it :)
ReplyDeleteOne day, you'll stop refusing, that's where I worry.
ReplyDeletehehehe I think he's trying to wear me down with peer pressure...
ReplyDeleteSmack his legs.
